going off on a tagent: genes are important, but so is activity I've got three relatives (some by blood, some not) north of 70. One is fit and trim and vigorous, walks > 1 mile per day, climbs stairs rather than using elevators. Mindset/attitude/mood surely is a variable, but it can also be hard to tease out the 'chicken' of general health from the 'egg' of ability to exercise. The person with multiple joint replacements was likely in substantial pain for years, e.g.
