/ It's almost January first. Read this tweet, kings, and plan what forests you will start planting next year (metaphorical ... or literal!). Around this time in 2010 I thought "next year, on January first, I will start writing the novel I have planned for decades". >>>https://twitter.com/eigenrobot/status/1209129057259905027 …

/ What have you wanted to do for a year? For 5? For 20? Lift? Diet? Write a book? Learn guitar? Plant a garden? Start visualizing it now. Think about the details. What's the first step? January 1st is arbitrary...but arbitrary things like crossroads and dates have powers.

/ Pick a goal - not too hard ...but not too easy either! Envision it. RESEARCH THE FIRST STEPS. <--- this is key Make a plan, with intermediate steps and a deadline. Tell your friends and commit your reputation to it <--- future self paternalism We'll all cheer you on!

/ People always overestimate how much they can get done in the short term...and UNDER estimate how much they can get done in the long term. Writing 500 words a day will build a novel...or a trilogy. Cutting 500 calories per day will cut your weight 50 lbs in a year.

/ Sometimes people have the motivation, but they are stymied by the FIRST, ACTUAL, CONCRETE, STEPS. 1) go buy and read the book "Getting Things Done" https://www.amazon.com/Getting-Things-Done-Stress-Free-Productivity/dp/0143126563 … 2) feel free to hit me up in the DMs to help brainstorm the FIRST ACTUAL STEP.

/ Remember: January first. It's not as hard as you think. In fact, it's kind of easy. Just consistent medium effort. 2020 is going to be your year, guys.
