on and off at 68.000 and 68.001 ; it would be cycling every second instead it flips on when it gets down to 66 and off when it gets up to 69, or whatever so maybe "I have to do this" is how we avoid reevaluating (for a month / quarter / year).

I find myself proposing experiments like this to clients. Make your provisional decision and decide when/upon what conditions it makes sense to revise it. That doesn't totally prevent it from coming up in the interim, but does overall reduce cognitive-emotional leakiness
