how many atheists are like me and still pray fairly often, despite not having faith? I recite the Hail Mary to myself frequently, along with vaguely deist praise or supplication messages, intentions for people I know who are struggling, etc.

thinking about what I believe leads to thinking about *why* I believe those things and I guess I get stuck going in circles there

"Faith is the evidence of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". It's hard to separate a conscious decision TO believe from actually believing. It's like circular logic but in a good way, it just requires a somewhat blind step
