It's nonsense on stilts from start to finish. Too big? Unless this Ben Fogle is a giant with humongous mitts, those were fairly typical apples by the measure of any store around here. Why do I suspect the orchard owner is being paid by the USDA not to harvest?

I actually have a strong aversive reaction to minor waste like this, and if I were in control I'd probably have them picked and made into cider or something even at a loss but at least I'm not trying to impose my individual neurosis on the rest of the economy
