2/ Foot dragging, complaining, conspicuous absence from the work area ... one guy in particular looked like he'd rather chew off his leg than do work that he considered "beneath" him. So I did 100% of the job myself, instead of merely 90% of it.

I think you made me realized what I just liked about the "energy" that is present at trade shows: the feeling that it's "all hands on deck." Yes, you're a product designer. And today, your job is to get 500 lbs of that product up to the 10th floor of this convention center.

When you're one of two people from your company staffing a booth, you gotta do it. no asking questions. If you kvetch, you kvetch not AT people, but WITH people, in solidarity. It's somehow easier, because around you are "famous people" doing the same thing."

this mindset is utterly bizarre to me my company has six guys at it (I'm not the boss) and, no matter if your job title is "software engineer", if the storage closet needs cleaning out you clean it

I've worked jobs where they had us come in to do the line workers jobs because we were salaried and they didn't have to pay us overtime, unlike the main employees. Once or twice for emergencies is one thing. When it is deliberate corp policy it is another.
