2/ There's no shame in writing Cyberpunk Dystopia #912 or Star Trek Pastich #321. They're fun to write, and people like to read them, and so just like the guy at Subways making sandwiches or a plumber fixing leaks, you're making the world a better place.

3/ But the quote is re the other, and that's good too. Closing in on age 50 I'm thinking a lot about the inevitability of death. I'd like to write one thing that will be read after I'm gone. So aiming to write a brilliant book that will set the world on fire is a good goal.

8/ There's a thread that twitter search isn't letting me find about a ceramics professor who divided his class into halves. One half got graded on quality. One on quantity. Quantity half got practice...and delivered more quality. Many such cases.

Some of my favourite things to re read are what I call popcorn fantasy. David Eddings is probably the best example, tropetastic but he leans into it and the intra party banter is fantastic. Kinda simple comfort food like.
