I was horrified by that article but also as I read it thought about other kids in the room and school. Like the thread said, there are no good options. There simply is no way to effectively educate these kids of students at scale within any reasonable allocation of resources

I’ve never had students this bad but I also feel like the violence is the result of being there and not intrinsic for some of them.

I'm less horrified by the thought of a biting, assaulting kid being put in one of these rooms than the certain knowledge teachers will begin using them, as they have "SROs", for routine discipline. Question der Kommissar? Get in SHU.

Yep. My argument isn't "this is good". My argument is "this isn't simple". I'm sure there are some perfectly good uses, some terrible abuses, and a lot of gray in between.
