2/ Skipped the top set of bench (negatives at 250#) and the sets below that (~3 reps at 230#) ; took it easy w top set of 210#. Downgraded KB swings from 3 sets to 1 half set: 35# x 50. I feel warm, healthy, and my back feels BETTER than it did an hour ago. Yeee-haw!

Taking a week off a couple of times a year should help your gains. The recovery aspect of exercise doesn't get near the level of focus it probably deserves

2/ valid point, and if I had felt, say, a tear in a tendon, or something, I'd be fully on board as it was, I had stiffness verging into pain in my lower back, and a bit of light work seems to have worked the muscle enough to make it warm up / relax etc https://twitter.com/20SmthngGrandpa/status/1196448139240263680 …
