calculated abstraction is an interesting rhetorical technique I don't see discussed very much. a false choice between the very specific "I don't like this specific author" and the very broad "stories about women matter." not unique to this community but certainly common in it.
Curious if you think this describes some of the flaws of Rationalism?

I think rationalists are better at it than most, which isn't to say *good*, but they at least have some vocabulary for dealing with it. It's a move they're vulnerable to but they can sometimes notice.
