2/ I chiseled most of it out, tested, reinstalled, got boiler running. I'm going to order a replacementt now bc (a) I didn't get ALL of the creosote out, (b) I think the bearings might be a bit wonky, (c) the blower is ~15 years old, so why not do it while I'm already in there?

5/ $150 for new one. Not absolutely trivial, but affordable. I'll certainly stash the old one somewhere, and maybe, someday, tear it apart, get 100% of the creosote out, and maybe replace the bearings. Spares are GOOD.
