That book was was one of those "popular" 70s apocalypse things that hasn't aged well.

He, like many others, has some amazing hits - IT, first 3 Dark Tower novels, Hearts in Atlantis, most of his short story collections, Running Man, FireStarter, On Writing) but the creativity well has been dry for some time.

Interesting take, I suggest reading “on writing” Some early King books were fueled by addiction and arguably suffer from that. IT is not his best. The short stories are remarkably good and varied. The Mist, the stand, Shawshank Redemption etc.

'Salem's Lot is awesome. I also liked The Green Mile chapbooks and the Mr. Mercedes trilogy.

I love The Shining, especially knowing where he was mentally at the time, and On Writing but I can’t stand most of his fiction.

The Stand was one of two or three good works. Most of his career has been garbage, fame by volume schlock, but there are a couple gems in there.
