3/ quoting the bible is not actually a good argument against someone who says "theoretically, it could be the case that the bible is wrong"https://twitter.com/DJFXD/status/1192538040327188487 …

"Lord, Liar, Lunatic" always struck me as an argument for the converted. Leaves no room for three other possibilities: "Mistaken, Misquoted, Misunderstood."

Don't forget the modern phenomenon of citogenesis is not so new.

The primary argument against this is that raised by the authors themselves, that many in the audience had been there and could contradict them if the written accounts misrepresented the public speeches or major events such as the trial and crucifixion.

Also I consider it to be bizarre that the idea "maybe Jesus was the son of God, maybe he was just really awesome" ends up being a culture war thing. Why can't we stipulate to the really awesome part and go from there? (And I'm agnostic/atheist here)
-
Because one side of the culture war believes that if you don’t believe *both* parts, and act accordingly, your immortal soul is damned for all eternity. That’s not really a meet-in-the-middle sort of deal.

If you get a chance, I recommend the book Jesus and the Eyewitnesses. https://www.amazon.com/Jesus-Eyewitnesses-Gospels-Eyewitness-Testimony/dp/0802863906 …
