Huh? A wide range of people can be defamed, and would be without our current laws. And a wide range of people are offended by the fact that others gain from false praise.

If I'm defamed by negative statements I suffer the harm and can bring action for the tort. I can show the harm. If I'm part of a group that might be harmed by false positive statements I will have a very hard time showing the harm. Most real examples resolve to fraud claims, no?
