I'm prepared to give people liberty - legal AND social liberty - to pursue their own mistakes. Encouragement, even. That doesn't preclude also giving them advice that might help them AVOID making mistakes. Pursuit includes making decisions about whether and what to pursue.

I am 100% in favor of legal liberty. Question of social liberty is interesting. You consider "please go with your bad self ... but realize that I wouldn't bc XYZ" to be social liberty, yes? At what point does it become lack of social liberty? "you really really shouldn't"?

Notions of aristocracy/elites have done a lot of serious damage to humanity, but one of the things we've lost is an ability to talk about norms/expectations/etc. applying differently to the best vs the rest.

If there is good in poly, it is very likely reserved for the conscientious, the moral, the emotionally healthy. I.e. basically no one, certainly not many of its main practitioners.
