I tussled with my friend @amyalkon on this a few months ago. Amy on the one hand dislikes zoning stopping more development near her ...but on the other hand, dislikes intrusive noises from car alarms, etc.

I'm a legal realist and also a positivist when describing reality, but it is ALSO useful to talk about rights even which can't be enforced [ yet ? ]. Do you not assert that a client HAS A RIGHT to XYZ, even when appealing (meaning that, positively, APPARENTLY HE DOES NOT) ? >>

so there are two different concepts that we might mean by the word "rights" it'd be great if we had two distinct words, not one until we do, probably best to use context to determine which use is already in play in a given thread, I think
