This reminds me, my wife has requested a new sewing machine, thanks!

Tell her that you can't afford it until after you buy a horizontal milling machine and a small lathe ... at very attractive prices !

Her satisfaction may take priority in this case, I have access to machines, but no working sewing machine at the moment.
Have you settled on a price tho?1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

I have a memory that I purchased both machines as a package for $700, 20 years ago. On the one hand, we've got inflation. On the other hand, he fact that the lead screw is disassembled and one part is bent because (cough) reasons. On the gripping hand, we friends. $600 ?

That is reasonable, I’ll gladly take it off your hands, we can work out details elsewhere. Luckily I know a guy that can either straighten or fabricate anew any bent parts.

Uh oh, what have I done? In all seriousness though, thank you, that’s most generous! I get along with machines better than people most of the time, and those ladies will get the finest treatment.

Excellent! I did a few hours work a decade or more ago stripping off layers of solidified high sulphur cutting oil and other crap. ...and then bunged up the lead screw end cap, thus putting me back to zero.

Mmmm, high sulfur cutting oil. As long as the original parts are still there, I have a bit of experience with forensic reverse engineering.

I know, I’m not sure how many of the true horror stories of FUBAR parts I’ve told you, lol.

But yes, everything organized, set aside, labeled, Morlock style.
