you're grotesquely conflating two radically different things I can judge buildings as ugly and say that I don't want to live in or near them ...without proposing that they be dynamited at night by some third party

ok sure but the underlying problem is that you find the buildings ugly

i guess regarding people as valuable only insofar that they “contribute” is a not particularly good belief in the first place. which is what prompted my comment in the first place

it is morally wrong to deem large sections of the incompetent, criminal, or undesirable, and the political belief that you’d be better off living in a society without them is a dangerous one

> it is morally wrong to deem...sections of the incompetent, criminal, or undesirable, says who? not me. I think it's fine, and factually correct. > the political belief that you’d be better off living in a society without them is a dangerous one do you live in the ghetto?

mate it’s morally wrong because a person’s innate human dignity and moral worth are not conditional on whether you decide that they are a good contributor or not

I didn't say that they don't have moral worth. I just said that I deem them undesirable. And even if I did, why do your particular morals trump mine? At least when fundamentalists argue in circles they cite "BUT MY BIBLE SAYS!!!". You're just saying "BUT I SAY!!!" who cares?

you're saying that you're allowed to say "MY MORAL AXIOMS ARE XYZ", but I'm not allowed to say "I don't share those axioms ; you merely asserting your preferences is not a winning move" ? that's ... quite breathtaking also, the way you say that ("isn't so good)" is wonderful
