2/ Ok, read the rest of the thread. This guy is a joke and/or a grifter. Didn't dig deep enough to find the e-book or course that he's almost certainly selling, but the pattern matches. * seem confident * sow fear * explain the "REAL" facts behind wealth Ok sure, buddy.

GP As you note, sure it's taxed as ordinary income. Decades later in retirement when your income is nearly guaranteed to be significantly lower than it is during your working years. You're taxed a bit more on more money. That said, I have funds in both traditional and Roth 401ks.
-
GP Roth 401ks or IRAs are great in theory. You have to trust government isn't going to change the rules later and tax gains on the funds then. That's why I hedged my bet and go about 67/33 traditional to Roth.

2/ Have you run a spreadsheet on that? I have, and the math strongly STRONGLY suggests that paying the tax later is the much smarter option.https://twitter.com/ChroniclesNate/status/1181897885874556928?s=19 …

401k is difficult in times like this. Options are stocks, bonds, and cash. Stocks seem toppy, bonds yield nothing, and cash returns no interest. Nowhere to hide. No precious metals. No real estate available as options. The company match = the tax on the back end.
-
Google "gold in a 401k". Trivial.

50% of my retirement savings go into non-retirement accounts (I am self employed and I save > 50% of my after tax income, and cap on SEP-IRA is 25% of your income).

I don't have a course to sell, but I did show my work here. Let's see yours. https://twitter.com/roncaruthers/status/1181965345579421697 …
@ChroniclesNate -
Or I could just do a roth/roth conversion and avoid the pitfalls of both
