So y’all, what I’m really asking for is thoughts and links on beauty and it’s relationship to things like responsibility, compassion, solidarity. How can you seriously make art without abandoning a responsibility to usefulness, connection, service?

Some art yanks at your... ~soul. Pulls you toward making the world better. Not just more beautiful. Yes, some art is untethered from this tilting towards the good. But not all. E.g. YT helped me unlock some old heartbreak I thought I was past: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKSDctC2o-s …

I need to org my playlist. Everything from working with resin and foam to steel and wood to hacking hardware to fashion drawing etc. YouTube has provided faster and more enjoyable learning. Anytime and anywhere.

I took a clay studio class once. me, first day "Imma throw a pot" all the women "oh, woah, slow down. That's a LOT harder than it looks. Takes years." me: "I've done years of woodturning. Same thing, axis rotated 90°" women: "sez you" me: <sits down, throws pot 1st try>
