Big difference between busking in a nice open square where there is room for bystanders to walk past, disengage, etc., and a captive audience with 2" of clearance between heads and swinging feet / shirtless bodies.

Life in the Big City.* *Note that I only occasionally *visit* the Big City, so I can enjoy the flavor and then go back to where there's no public transportation and people don't walk anywhere.

This is an argument that 0.1% get to inflict their behavior on everyone else...basically a defense of the Tragedy of the Commons. The definition of private property / rights is a political act. Noise ordinances, zoning, etc. This is a choice.

Recognition that 0.1% will inflict their behavior on everyone else. We won't change human behavior, so the alternative is draconian police presence or monitoring in those public spaces, leading to other abuses. Better 10 buskers fling sweat than to punish 1 innocent commuter.

Better to punish 10 innocent commuters than punish 1 innocent commuter? 🤔

The commuters have formed their society and accepted it. As an occasional visitor to their exotic land, I find it entertaining. I fully support the people of foreign lands I might visit maintaining their unique cultures and traditions for my entertainment.

"The commuters have formed their society and accepted it." B.S. The commuters on that train don't have much of a choice in getting from point A to B. Many probably don't have the luxury to move away and just visit "their exotic land" when they want. (cont)

But they have accepted it, otherwise they'd have their government do something about it. Accepting doesn't mean like. They accept this more than what it would take to stop it. Now I have to go make an offer on a solar RV so I can boondock on BLM land for free.

      > otherwise they'd have their government do something about it You're arguing that government - especially NYC government - is super responsive to citizen desires, and reflects the priorities of the working class, and not, say, the liberal elites? 🤔 Fascinating!

Okay, so the effort of having their government do something and/or what that solution would be is less annoying than the undocumented performers.

yes! ...and but "the effort" might be infinite / not possible. You and I pay taxes because it's easier than the (impossible) lobbying to successfully get rid of taxes.

Sir, I pay taxes because they're a universal good and part of the social contract.
