I did retire my work jacket this spring, after maybe 15 years of hard use.
It's not in a landfill, though.
It's hung in the closet, next to @LibertyFarmNH's wedding dress.
One has to preserve mementos of important memories.

We go through a lot of clothes for the kids. Whole new wardrobe every year. 150 pounds per adult woman does seem pretty insane, though. Makes me wonder about the accuracy of that stat. Maybe something they’re not telling us about how it was determined.

I skimmed the article (ugh, I need a shower) and my guess is that "75 pounds per person" includes things like hotel towels and bedsheets, hospital textiles, industrial fabric like drop cloths and banners, commercial window treatments, office cubicles, and retail overstock.
