Remember when almost all websites had comments - back before the Cathedral realized that this let people disagree with The Narrative in public, and risk creating a preference cascade? Wild to think that the era of free communication was barely ten years ago.

News organizations also are beholden to advertising and ethics standards. Thus, they can’t have a string of n words and homophobic slurs below every article. Pulp blogs, like Breitbart, for example, have no such restrictions, hence why they still have the comment sections.
