Our little township wouldn't be agriculturally self-sustainable but we have a plentiful communal supply of water in the lake behind the dam, a zealous HOA in charge of the lake, a strong sense of community, and a small number of easily-defended access points.

I'm saying we'd swiftly elect a warlord and conquer the neighboring subdivisions under the crimson banner of the HOA.
