/ Gatekeeping? How so? Am I denying
@Swordsfall1 access to my vast publishing empire? Keeping him out of the literary society I control? Calling up my agent friends and blacklisting him? Explain, please, how I'm "gatekeeping",@CappuccinoGuil https://twitter.com/CappuccinoGuil/status/1167430888440958976 …This Tweet is unavailable.Show this thread -
/ No,
@Swordsfall1 wasn't PROPOSING an idea; he was CRITICIZING other people for not proposing a bad idea, and he was saying that they were BAD AT SCIENCE. Exactly same thing, except sign bit flipped. https://twitter.com/AntediluvianG/status/1167431837225893889 …This Tweet is unavailable.Show this thread -
/ No, he wasn't ASKING. He said that the failure to do this very good and Science!™-y "is what bothers me and futuristic settings". It was an assertion that failure to do this is BAD. https://twitter.com/whipstache/status/1167432853547884550 …

/ I take people seriously based on the coherence of their arguments. I take almost no one, white or black, seriously. > this thread is poor taste please don't push your cultural norms on me > If you’re threatened by

/ > He did insinuate that it was bad. No, he stated that it was bad. > He did not insinuate it was bad because of science. He stated it was bad bc of science. Go read the tweet. https://twitter.com/whipstache/status/1167434329745702912 …

/ > If you think it's anything but *Expensive* to launch trash into the sun, you dont understand science. I sort of do, tho. Earth orbits the sun at 29.78 km/s + ~ 1.8 km/s of deltaV for atmospheric drag = 31.6 km/s To achieve LEO is 7.8 k/s So > https://twitter.com/BurningBunring/status/1167434439682486272 …

/ So to handwave, a rocket that can put X into LEO can put X/4 into the sun. Falcon payload to LEO is 23,000 kg, so it can put ~6,000 kg of trash into the sun. Launch costs $57 million, so it costs $9,500 to put 1 kg of trash into the sun. I call that "expensive".

/ Oh, interesting. I didn't watch that speech, but maybe I should. Cold Equations was classic, which is why I had an homage to it (with a female navigator!) in my books. https://twitter.com/LibertyFarmNH/status/1167436790158045184 …
