Having a locked account has led me to wonder about the nature of political insanity. When I get follower requests, I screen them for signs of being nuts—either normal DSM crazy or driven crazy by politics. And I noticed something.

I have friends across the political spectrum, but I have never gotten followed by a wild Trump fanatic. But something like 5% of my follower requests are from people who tweet nonstop about Russia, impeachment, etc. Two possibilities:

1. Avid Trump supporters don’t care about tech or finance, so they never find my account. 2. Everyone is tempted to go politically insane, but it’s socially acceptable to do so only in one direction.

I think that the social media landscape was much different ~6 years ago, so it didn't manifest in memes but hours of cognitive surplus devoted to BHO worship was quite high
