Just dropped $150 on the Battletech Kickstarter. My nostalgia is probably getting the better of me.

I dropped those on day #1. My recommendation is to stay away from the updates, because I doubled last week.

My budget disallows going up to the $300 level, so I think I’m probably safe. Might add a lance or two post-campaign, but there’s no way I can go further without destroying the budget and having to explain to the wife why I did so...

I understand... for us it goes over the petty cash threshold, so there's now a line for Dad's toys in the monthly budget. :)

Yep. We each have a “personal fun” line in the budget. Spend it on whatever you want, no questions asked. But exceed that threshold and it’s suddenly “why did $100 of our grocery money go to Kickstarter?” Never needed to have that conversation, never want to.

@random_eddie So what's the win? $95 tier? Are higher tiers just duplicates of mechs, or is there variety? I've been away from it so long I can't quite parse the details. Also: I want this? https://www.amazon.com/Battletech-Game-of-Armored-Combat/dp/B07MCYLBCR/ref=sr_1_1 …1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -
It’s a tough tier system to grok given the stretch goals they hit. In pure $/model terms, it’s probably either $95 or $300+. As someone “new”, you probably also want the AGoAC base box or mechs. I gotta go help the kids out, but hopefully I can explain more later.

I’d say look at the tier-explanation graphics, but even those are confusing.

The biggest non-obvious thing is that any reward that says “double forces” includes twice the lance/star packs advertised. Because of the 1.5M goal, they aren’t strict duplicates, but chosen independently.

Just got with my playing group. The vote here is $300, but they're biased. Now, for a semiobjective recommendation: The box you linked to plus the $95 tier should be good for a casual fan. For optimizing number of mechs, $300 is the best number if you get all the five-packs.
