At the bookstore the other day I picked up Neuromancer. Gibson's introduction, 20 years later (10 years ago) was great. And then I read a few chapters. And ... man, it's a radically different book read as a 48 year old than as a 13 year old.

3/ It says so, in so many words, right there in the text! ...but all of that Cyberpunk 2020 underworld that seems so cool when you're 13, and you think back on when you're 25 or 35 and think "actually, that's filthy and destructive and gross"? GIBSON SAID SO !

4/ Rereading Dune a year or so back was similarly eye opening. I guess this is just three milli-Moldbugs. I'm not telling you to READ OLD BOOKS (like, 300 years old). But I am saying "re-read old favorites".
