12/ I'm a little disappointed in myself re the pumpkin patch - it's like 80% weeds. Just didn't have time to do better. The first few years, in stonewall patch, worked GREAT bc I covered everything w hay and straw, then put strips of dirt on top of that - insane mulching >>>
13/ So I think what I'm going to try next year with downhill patch is roll out 4' wide strips of weed barrier, weight them down with sandbags, and leave maybe 8" or 12" gaps between the strips, then plant in the gaps. Three steps forward, two steps back every year...
