In Lua, 0 is counterintuitively true. That's because false is false, undefined (nil) is false, and everything that's not false or undefined is true. It's a noob trap, but it's reasonable. Urbit is not reasonable.

... and in Lua, this rule actually makes sense. If you're using a value as a conditional then you are either checking its truth value, in which case you explicitly set it to false, or (much more commonly) you're checking its existence. If it's 0, it still exists, so it's true.
