How reasonable is it to use resistance bands on the bar to simulate 2-4 plates of extra weight? Considering this as an alternative option for home gym set that doesn't put hundreds of extra pounds on my floor.
IIRC your original plan was to put the home gym in the basement / storefront / something and also make that a cafe? am I hallucinating? Or was that some other friend?

who's in there now? but, yes, if not on concrete, I concur w Eddie that a lifting platform that spreads the weight over lots of joists will get the job done. lifting platform = * 1 layer plywood, 8'x8' * 1 layer rubber * 1 more layer plywood there are plans ("plans") online
