1/ One of bet bits of life advice I ever got was from Heinlein via, I think, "The Door Into Summer". Guy goes into cryosleep for a century wakes up, skims a history book for a few hours, gets up to speed, marvels about how much time he'd've wasted reading the paper every day.https://twitter.com/NateSilver538/status/1154379846673412096 …

8/ OK then, by all means, pay attention to the twists and turns of the Dem primary. That'll absolutely help and I now retract my entire thread that it's a waste of time.https://twitter.com/Fla_Mom/status/1154388366005342208 …

9/ I mostly try not to discuss object-level events and news, and use object-level facts only to illustrate meta-level / patterns / concepts. "Bernie might win!!!" is terrible. "Late state capitalist societies have a tendency to ..." is interesting.https://twitter.com/BoredGreyface/status/1154410568192864257 …

Well, except with *this* plan, you don't know anything until you're in the Gulag/dead/suffering, wondering what happened (see much of the world for current examples). A lot of small stuff may not matter, but the trend is truly life and death.

This was me 10 years ago. Life situation caused me to not be able to listen to Beck/Rush/Hannity/Levin from 9am to 6pm every day. I never went back and the way I see and understand the world could not be more different now. So much wasted time and words.
