/ One of bet bits of life advice I ever got was from Heinlein via, I think, "The Door Into Summer". Guy goes into cryosleep for a century wakes up, skims a history book for a few hours, gets up to speed, marvels about how much time he'd've wasted reading the paper every day.https://twitter.com/NateSilver538/status/1154379846673412096 …

/ There is NOTHING that you paying attention to polls about Dems in the primary today can do to affect any of that. Every single second you spend wondering if Bernie's poll numbers are good or bad is a second of your life wasted, gone for good.

/ Paying attention (a) makes you dumber, (b) wastes your life, (c) changes nothing, (d) legitimizes - in your own mind, at the very least - the relevance, importance, and legitimacy of the system.

/ Paying attention when you're powerless to change things is stupid.pic.twitter.com/mNOellghPD

/ Go plan a tasty dinner, and make a shopping list. Step outside and weed your garden. Concentrate on your work and make progress in your career. Chat with a friend, because it's fun, for both of you. Do NOT pay attention to poll numbers of a bunch of weirdos.

/ OK then, by all means, pay attention to the twists and turns of the Dem primary. That'll absolutely help and I now retract my entire thread that it's a waste of time.https://twitter.com/Fla_Mom/status/1154388366005342208 …

/ I mostly try not to discuss object-level events and news, and use object-level facts only to illustrate meta-level / patterns / concepts. "Bernie might win!!!" is terrible. "Late state capitalist societies have a tendency to ..." is interesting.https://twitter.com/BoredGreyface/status/1154410568192864257 …
