2/ This is pretty much how I ate for the first 10 years out of college, as most of my money went to rent, taxes, and student loan repayment. If oatmeal, cold cuts, spaghetti, and frozen 99 cent burritos are good enough for a taxpayer, why aren't they good enough for criminals?

It's how you know that they're not really escaping horrible conditions, right? *Anything* would look good. I was deployed w/ a guy who was young in post-war Germany. No matter the food served, he said, "This is great." Decades later, he vividly remembered starvation.
