That's one thing I think doesn't get enough airtime in libertarian circles. A nation has a bunch of intangible assets, the land, the jobs, the social cohesion, subcommunication expectations, so on. All of those are held by the nation in common, and they've been sold.

Actually reaches way back to the Bronze Age too. Property was not considered individual. It was held by communally by families. Fascinating how that changed.
