Built a shelf for the garage. Single shelf, 6' wide, 22" deep, welded 1" square tube frame, 3/4" plywood bottom, hangs on a French cleat. Finally, some place to put tractor hydraulic fluid, tractor oil, car oil, riding mower oil, gear oil, oil filters, fuel filters, air filters >

2/ tire bead seater, windshield fluid, etc. Every project has a sub project, so (a) had to move pine planks for remaining bookshelves out of way, (b) finished off a spool of MIG wire and had to swap. Dislike new stuff, so saved old spool to add info to welding page in wikipic.twitter.com/iD28XpUtDU

3/ Since I was 13 or so I always wanted to have a ton of tools, and infinite supplies, and I guess I'm pretty close to there...and it's kind of exhausting, because maintaining the infrastructure that maintains the infrastructure that maintains the infrastructure is...whew.

4/ E.g. swapping out MIG wire so I can weld a shelf so I can store the oils so I can do annual maintenance on the tractor so I can rototill dirt so I can grow pumpkins so I can feed pigs so I can eat bacon.

5/ Topic 7-c : tall infrastructure stack is also wide. Footprint goes up with square of height. Takes a lot of time / energy. Whew. Shower time, then delays (bc Stephenson) Friday night whiskey.

7/ Doesn't look like much, but was a hassle. * rearrange workshop to make room * carry 20' of iron from barn * remove French cleat * make new one that's longer, spans window, has two depths bc window molding is proud of wall * measure, diagram, plan * cut 8 parts * grind rustpic.twitter.com/vTlEwp1WS9

* drill 6 holes in steel
* weld all parts, using 90° magnets
* cut shelf plywood
* cut shelf mating French cleat
* attach shelf floor and shelf cleat through holes with screws and lag bolts
* etc
All this trivial crap (a shelf? Yawn.) takes work.

I had to move my woodshop out to get the garage back in order. Been at it two months now. About done.
