Are over-the-range microwaves a scam? Every single one I’ve tested in this furniture store produces little to no suction.

I had one that worked pretty well. N.B. that most over-the-range hoods have two modes which you choose between at install time: air blows back out into kitchen, or blows into pipe. You unscrew motor housing, rotate it 90 degrees, screw back in hood suction in general is gentle

you don't need an insane 20 horsepower fan - the smoke and oil rises, and if you create a slight vacuum, it all flows straight up

20" box fan, 20x20 ac filter, carbon filter, bungee cords. Nothing will escape the kitchen.
