Of course we should look at other places, but the world has been surprisingly peaceful for the last 20 years, all things considered. Except the Middle East but that might be a special case to be treated separately.

Maybe I'm expecting things to happen faster than I should because 20 years is so long in internet time. It took maybe 80 years for the printing press to really start killing people. Newsprint was causing wars within 30 years of its development. How do we guess the time constant?
