Is that the smallest possible number of bears, the smallest available bear, or the lowest point on a given bear? I would hope to be interesting at all 3 but am not sure I can compete with a bear. (And thank you for the lovely compliment and please forgive the silliness)

no matter what the answer, I vaguely remember from calculus that we can look for the bear minimum at the lower end of the range, the upper end, and any point the derivative / slope is 0
