I remember that issue. I liked that simplified system. And all those games I'd forgotten: I loved DragonQuest and Gamma World and /wanted/ to love Villains & Vigilantes. Good lord, my inner geek feels so much nostalgia...

yeah - dave trampier. it came out after he died, iirc (somewhat recently). i tweeted about it, last year, i think.

it could be, but it's not like he was a rocket scientist who disappeared to drive a cab in obscurity - he was just someone who happened to draw a cartoon for a fringe magazine. you don't have to be broken to drive a cab, or have a falling out with a publisher...
