What would it take to actually ruggedize and decentralize suburban and rural food infrastructure for say, a disruption lasting 6-12 months? I've been thinking about this problem and dont have a solution beyond unrealistically large stocks or mass farming

I don't disagree at all. Right now the problem, as I see it, is not the people on my street but the other 600,000 people in my county who won't survive two weeks without food. Not one in 10 has more than a week in the pantry
