Yeah, I think that's about right--I have less insight into the lower tiers and their workings High tier tech employees def outstrip the modal doctor at this point, IMO. More agency at work, fewer hours, better pay and better working conditions
-
Also it's an industry where entry and advancement are output-based rather than credentialed but perhaps this doesn't matter to most (Heh This is partly me flexing on doctors) I think I should look at this as a notch within a class rather than, like, a full separate rung, tho

My hierarchy looks similar to
@MorlockP . I’m really intrigued at what the higher status gradations look like from a different perspective. -
As a snapshot, I'm currently an accountant which my relatives find very respectable but I suspect I'll become more baffling (lower status through illegibility) if I make the jump into tech as planned Despite my peer group likely seeing that as a definite move *up*

What about knowledge gaps? Doesn't even consider hiring a lawyer Doesn't know what a decent lawyer costs Doesn't know how to vet lawyers but could afford a lawyer if they knew how Moving from this to your hierarchy seems class related but only partly correlated with income

Thinking of this realizing how much my notion of class is tied to societal/work benefit. Not really what you asked. But I hold a good middle manager in much better esteem than a shitty CEO. I respect doctors education but known many asshole Drs. Would hold phys.therapsts highr
