It's not illegal to resist an illegal arrest. It might be unwise due to the risk of escalation leading to your death, but you're within your rights to not comply with their instructions and to resist with as much force as they initiate.
really? he was in the right to (a) tell a guy that a dog didn't belong to him, when it did, (b) try to arrest him because he was black and had dreadlocks, just like a guy who was 20 years older in another state ?

If he had no PC to make an arrest - which he did not - he is required to take his hands off the suspect when told to (otherwise that's assault) and to get off his property when told to (otherwise that's trespass). "He didn't show me his ID" is not PC for an arrest in Texas.
