GP The furor over Trump's tax returns requires you to actively believe that the IRS, which has audited Trump's tax returns for years, purposely ignored or incompetently missed criminal tax fraud.

GP I have my own thoughts about the IRS, but if they're auditing a major business, they will crawl into your shorts and leave no stone unturned. If Trump wasn't forced to pay civil or criminal penalties by now, the simplest explanation is he's done nothing wrong.

GP And if the standard is now, "well, the IRS could've made a mistake 30 years ago under a completely different tax code, so Congress should get to second guess the IRS," so be it. I eagerly await public disclosure of all of Pelosi and Schumer's (and their spouses') tax returns.

GP Final thought: If you want lower tax compliance rates, this is how you get lower tax compliance rates. Why give the IRS any information? Congress will simply turn around + use as a weapon against you by twisting it for the uninformed masses who know nothing of tax accounting?
