I am a little rattled every time I re-realize how many people (even apparently competent, responsible, fully-functional adults) just don’t understand things.

Sometimes this happens when you try to make an abstract point and it plainly just whizzes by them. Today it happened when someone cropped up on the brain cancer forum to ask if s/he can get life insurance *post-diagnosis*

I’ve actually seen this a number of times by now. They aren’t bad people, they know they “should” have life insurance. But

I've recently come up with a theory. High g people think that everything is g loaded , so you meet someone who can dress themselves, make polite chit-chat, pick nice decor for their house, not crap on the carpet, and you think "competent person like me!" >>>

2/ but there are "co processors" in the brain that handle tidiness, socialization, manners, etc. and so these people SEEM to satisfy all the requirements for intelligence, but actually in the "pure rationality" part of the brain (g) there's very little going on.

3/ Take a peek inside reddit /r/legaladvice, or relationships, or whatever. There are all of these putatively real adults who ... just can't seem to think. It's amazing. I've been getting very depressed re this topic recently.
