You've been a teetotaler until now? What were your reasons for that? What are your reasons for reconsidering? As a teetotaler-until-age-40, I have some thoughts ...

1. I’m obnoxious enough already 2. tastes awful 3. Most Benefits seem gettable in other ways 4. Potential awful consequences Potential reasons for change: 1. Makes me less weird 2. Enables me to hit on women at parties/bars without being defined as a creep automatically

I still have basically no interest In being drunk because it seems dumb but there is a whole nexus of socializing around it

There's a complicated social game around drinking, and, separately but relatedly, around being drunk. You can totally find a decent place in those games without ever a) drinking things that you don't enjoy or b) being levels of drunk you don't enjoy.

It won't be the *same* place as if you, for example, a) drank beer [nasty stuff, I never touch it] or b) were willing to be obviously drunk sometimes and/or sloppy drunk on occasion. But it can be a perfectly good place.

Also, you should probably ignore
@MorlockP 's advice here. When it comes to socializing he's very well-read.1 reply 0 retweets 5 likes
