1) you can sip and never get drunk. That's a fine strategy. Many drink that way. 2) Low levels of drunks are actually quite excellent every now and then. You can be 100% in control, but quiet the voices that second guess you, cause you to sabotage yourself, etc.

so basically your two arguments are: * it tastes bad * getting somewhat drunk is bad I disagree with both. I'm sure there's some Less Wrong essay about "I used to think exactly what you think, now I think the reverse ; how do I convince you"

Yeah, there is a lot of terrible tasting alcohol out there; do not drink that. Drink stuff that you enjoy the taste of.
