Takes some lady balls to do a home birth. I'm still sometimes concerned about the possibility of something terrible happening even at the hospital. Though the odds are low... Doesn't matter.

Yea, we had every reason to believe that our birth would be free from such problems. Also, we had a professional in attendance, and a clear plan for any emergencies that did arise.

We had a shitty experience at a hospital with birth #2 (they literally ignored my telling them several times that their instruments were missing half the contractions, so nobody was ready when it was baby time).

Paid out of pocket for a midwife-run birth center across from the hospital for #3. We figured full attention from someone less qualified was better than being ignored by the “right” people. And we were across the street from the hospital in case of emergency.
