Dredd is great because it doesn't pretend to be anything other than an action movie. It scratches that part of the brain that likes action without annoying the part of the brain than can sniff out "there's totally a lesson here you guys" from a mile away.

Dredd (Stallone) was so gritty my gf needed an ambulance after watching it.

That was "Judge Dredd", and we shall not speak of it again. The movie all the decent respectable people are talking about is "Dredd", which is the only Judge Dredd movie that was ever made.

I saw Dredd completely on a whim and LOVED it. It wasn't fancy. Just a solid action movie with

Bumped into it on Netflix a few years ago. No idea what it was about, decided to watch. Completely enthralled, it's a thinkers action movie.

what I most liked about Dredd was the gritty run-down grimy 1970s public housing vibe. I don't romanticize that vibe, but it was definitely a thing, and it's fallen below the horizon bc so many directors etc today are too young. cc
