The only way to approach paying for UBI is to route ALL welfare spending (including SS) into it. Which is kinda the point: rather than having a massive welfare state where everyone needs to prove entitlement to a massive bureaucracy, just send everyone a povertyline+$1 check.

This is in the philosophy of "if you're going to do it wrong, at least do it right." UBI is a terrible idea. Giving everyone a salary, confiscated at gunpoint from the productive, just for breathing another 30 days is ruinous. Welfare state is likewise a terrible idea.
